laibach musickThe Slovenian collective LAIBACH have revealed details of their forthcoming album, their first studio release of original material since 2014’s ‘Spectre’.

Entitled ‘MUSICK’, the album will be released on 1 May 2026 via Mute on vinyl, CD and digitally. On ‘MUSICK’, LAIBACH both reflect on and critique the present moment of distorted reality and its garish AI-driven imitations, doing so in a playful, hyper-affirmative manner through a collection of undeniably catchy pop songs that revel in the excesses of hyper-accelerated postmodernity.

The album title ‘MUSICK’ already contains the key to this duality. It speaks of saturation, of weariness - in short, of the sickness that can overtake us in relation to music at a time when there is so much of it that genuine engagement becomes increasingly difficult. More than 100,000 new tracks are uploaded online every day, with a growing number generated by AI, amounting to digital noise.

Like so many aspects of contemporary life, even the simple act of listening to music can cause us to question reality itself. ‘MUSICK’ addresses this sense of overload through its constantly shifting sounds and reference points, but it also explores another form of sickness: a pathological devotion to music - “an obsession, a kind of drug” - that continues to drive LAIBACH in spite of, and perhaps because of, this era of saturation.

The album campaign begins today with the release of the first single, ‘Allgorhythm’, featuring Ghanaian singer WIYAALA. The track was co-produced by pop powerhouse RICHARD X (known for his work with SUGABABES, GOLDFRAPP, NEW ORDER and KELIS) and is accompanied by a playful video starring LAIBACH’s iconic frontman alongside WIYAALA - naturally designed to steer all of our algorithms in the right direction.

As a first taste of the album, ‘Allgorhythm’ is a bold mash-up of electronic Pop tropes, hooks and beats. Both conceptually and formally, the song cleverly equates the manipulative nature of algorithms with that of music itself - both functioning as a kind of magic to which we willingly submit. LAIBACH’s recent turn towards pop even caught the attention of Slovenian national broadcaster RTV, which selected ‘Allgorhythm’ as a potential official entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, before withdrawing from the competition later in the year.

The group adopted an audibly maximalist approach while producing the album in their Ljubljana studio. LAIBACH surrounded themselves with almost every instrument they could lay their hands on, from analogue synthesisers and toys to computers loaded with sound apps. They also invited a number of guest musicians from Slovenia and beyond, including long-time collaborator Donna Marina Mårtensson and legendary electropop producer RICHARD X. Above all, they immersed themselves in a wide spectrum of contemporary sounds, ranging from K-pop and J-pop to 1990s Eurodance.

“However, our primary influence and reference point remained LAIBACH itself,” the group explain. “In all our shades, variations and historical transformations.” It is safe to say that ‘MUSICK’ is thoroughly pop, yet just as thoroughly LAIBACH.

LAIBACH will launch the first leg of their ‘MUSICK’ tour on 18 May in Graz, before continuing across Europe throughout the summer. Further tour dates will be announced shortly. ‘MUSICK’ by LAIBACH will be released on 1 May 2026 on vinyl, CD and digital formats via Mute/[PIAS]. Pre-orders are available at https://ffm.bio/laibach
