Laibach - “Opus Dei Tour”
LAIBACH have announced the remastered and redesigned edition of their 1987 album, ‘Opus Dei’, out on Mute on 10 May 2024, on vinyl and as a 2CD box set, which will include 16 unreleased live tracks from 1987-1989 and 3 bonus tracks. The album is long-lasting, which very few achieve, it is a cult classic: ‘Opus Dei’ with songs like ‘Leben heißt Leben, released in 1987 on the Mute label, is finally being remastered after 26 years and re-released on vinyl and CD. Additionally, LAIBACH, the Slovenian artist collective, is going on an “Opus Dei Europe Tour” and will of course come to the Ruhr area and to the Christuskirche, which will be their fifth performance in the cubistic, imageless sacred space. On the program:
Tracks from the legendary album that LAIBACH will perform for the first time in many years, along with some of the most important songs from the Laibach catalogue that preceded ‘Opus Dei’, as well as a few surprises, meaning: new material. With LAIBACH, the only thing that can be expected is the unexpected. When the Slovenians performed two concerts in North Korean Pyongyang in 2015 - as the first Western pop band ever - and managed to create small cracks in the stony facade of the audience, as if porcelain was crumbling from the face of the official, American late-night talk show hosts had to explain to their audience where Slovenia is and what the most significant cultural export of this tiny country is up to.
In conjunction with the re-release, LAIBACH will embark on an extensive European tour with 29 stops, 10 of which are in Germany. The tour promises to be a highlight for hard-core LAIBACH fans, who will not only hear the well-known hits like ‘Leben heißt Leben’ and ‘Geburt einer Nation’, but also other tracks from the album that have not been performed live for years. For lovers of avant-garde art and experimental music, this tour is an opportunity not to be missed. The concerts promise an energetic, intense, and visually striking show that seamlessly combines LAIBACH’s signature artistic approach with their political messaging.
