PASSENGER, aka Mike Rosenberg, is one of the most distinctive voices in the international singer-songwriter scene. With his warm, melancholic voice and songs such as ‘Let Her Go’, the British artist has evolved from a street performer into an acclaimed global star. In 2027, PASSENGER will return to the stage with his new album ‘Wild Love’ and an extensive European tour, including four dates in Germany.There was a time when Rosenberg had become accustomed to the certainty of being alone. Now 42, the singer-songwriter could look back on a successful but restless career. “I was slowly coming to terms with the idea that maybe I’d never have a family of my own,” Rosenberg recalls. Then everything changed - in a way he describes as “romantic and almost absurdly Hollywood”.
The love of his life had actually been standing beside him on stage all along. Rebekah had been his manager for ten years, accompanying him through tour buses, relentless promotional schedules and video shoots around the world. After the pandemic, the spark between them finally caught. The risk was considerable: “Going from a working relationship to a romantic relationship is scary. The older you get, the more scars you carry from love,” Rosenberg admits.
It is precisely this electrifying space between fear and surrender that fuels his new album, ‘Wild Love’. It is arguably the musician’s most personal and multifaceted work to date. The songs explore the full spectrum of love, from the nagging uncertainty of the upbeat, percussion-driven ‘Caution To The Wind’ to the anthemic title track, the emotional centrepiece of the album.
He was not afraid to experiment sonically either, drawing inspiration from the distinctive 1980s piano sound of Bruce Hornsby for ‘Caution To The Wind’, recorded at his studio in the South Downs. “At that time, I had absolutely no control over my emotions. So, the music couldn’t sound too controlled either,” he says with a laugh. Tracks such as the opener ‘Boomerang’ also reflect this period of transformation: written during the monotony of the pandemic, it channels an overwhelming desire for a fresh start.
Anyone who has experienced PASSENGER live will know that his songs truly come alive on stage. The man who once stood on pavements with nothing but a guitar and amplifier has an extraordinary ability to turn even the largest venues into intimate living rooms. His concerts are an emotional rollercoaster, moving effortlessly between melancholic ballads, rousing singalong anthems and his humorous, charming anecdotes. The resulting connection with the audience is something rarely found in modern Pop.
Mike Rosenberg will soon bring this unique live energy back to Germany. With the new album in tow, PASSENGER will embark on a major European tour in spring 2027. In March and April, he will perform four shows in Germany, presenting his new songs alongside much-loved classics.
