slipknot theendsofarIn the fall of last year, SLIPKNOT released ‘The Chapeltown Rag’, their first new music in two years, giving fans hope for a new album. At the latest when Corey Taylor announced at a Knotfest roadshow in Ohio that new music was “very fucking soon”, the worldwide anticipation finally went through the roof. Because a new SLIPKNOT album is an event - and on September 30th it will happen. That’s when ‘The End, So Far’ will be released, the new, seventh album by the Grammy-winning metal icons from Iowa.

Kicking off today is the lead single, ‘The Dying Song (Time To Sing)’, available now on all streaming services and accompanied by a music video that can be viewed on the band’s YouTube channel. Once again directed by SLIPKNOT’s very own M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan. Last year’s surprise single ‘The Chapeltown Rag’ is also part of the track listing (see below).

Part of the allure of SLIPKNOT is that they’re simultaneously incredibly popular and deeply enigmatic. And that they always uncompromisingly break new ground in order to redefine the scope of Rock music, to fill it with new life and to develop it further. ‘The Dying Song (Time To Sing)’ is a shining example of this - and it makes you excited for the rest of the album. Crahan says of this: “New music, new art and new beginnings. Get ready for the end.”

The impact was just as big internationally, with #1 placements in a total of 12 countries, including the UK, Canada and Australia . In Germany, the work reached number 2 in the charts.

Ten years after the first Knotfest in the USA and subsequent branches in Japan and Latin America, the premiere of Knotfest Germany will take place in a few days, on July 30th (Oberhausen, Rudolf Weber-ARENA). In addition to festival headliner and curator SLIPKNOT, a total of ten other acts will perform, including MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, TESSERACT and GHOSTEMANE. There has never been a band like SLIPKNOT - and never will be again. Like a spore spreading from the Midwest to the rest of the world, they have quietly evolved into one of the most uncompromising, authoritative and unique bands on the planet, whose influence is as contagious as it is inspirational. Since sowing the seeds of a revolution in Iowa in 1999, the musical runaways have won a Grammy Award, earned 15 platinum and gold certifications in the US alone, 5 golds in Germany, and dozens of other certifications worldwide, adding up to more than 8.5 billion Streams and 3.5 billion views - unprecedented numbers for a Rock act. Rolling Stone included the breakthrough platinum album ‘Iowa’ (2001) in “The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time”, The Ringer attested: “They are the most important heavy band of their era”. Their last album ‘We Are Not Your Kind’ gave the band their third consecutive #1 in the USA and stormed to number 1 in eleven other countries worldwide (number 2 in Germany). SLIPKNOT also always deliver an inimitable experience for all the senses live, whether on their sold-out international tours or at their own festival Knotfest. The seventh studio album is planned for 2022 and one can be sure once again: nothing will ever be the same again.
