ENGEL: signing with Steamhammer/SPV - with ex-members from In Flames and EvergreyAlready touted as one of the "Best Unsigned Bands 2006" by the readers of Metal Hammer UK and crowned winners of Rock Hard Germany's "Demo Contest" 2006, ENGEL are set to take the metal world by storm. Hailing from Sweden's famous breeding ground for riffs and groundbreaking bands - Gothenburg - the members of ENGEL might be starting as a newcomer, but have years of combined experience and a uniquely mesmerizing heavy-as-hell melodic sound to take over the world's metallic hearts and minds.
Founded by riff-lord Niclas Engelin (formerly of Gardenian, In Flames, Passenger) in 2005, he quickly added vocalist Mangan Klavborn, guitarist Marcus Sunesson (formerly of The Crown) and drummer Mojjo (formerly of Lord Belial, Runemagick). In 2006 bassist Michael Håkansson (formerly of EVERGREY) joined ENGEL and the band was complete.
Anders Fridén (singer of IN FLAMES) helped his old friend Niclas (both played together in Passenger) record demos and is now assisting in the production of the debut ENGEL album at Dug Out Studios in Uppsala with Daniel Bergstrand (producer of IN FLAMES, MESHUGGAH) with what could be one of the best debut metal albums of 2007.
