In an interview with Side-Line, Elegant Machinery's Richard Jomshof speaks about his involvement in the political party Sweden Democrats (Sverigedemokraterna, SD) and what effect it has had on Elegant Machinery. Jomshof is both chief editor of the party's newspaper SD-Kuriren (The SD courier) and was elected to the local municipal parliament and the regional parliament in 2006. Jomshof actually lost his job as a teacher because of his political views.

Sweden Democrats (Sverigedemokraterna, SD) was founded in 1988 and is a Swedish political party that describes itself as a nationalist movement which opposes all forms of racism. The Sweden Democrats have been described as anti-immigrant by CNN, the BBC, The Local, the Swedish Security Police and xenophobic by the Expo Foundation, the Centre for the Study of European Politics and Society and the Stephen Roth Institute. A mouthful but sure is that Jomshof wants to keep politics away from Elegant Machinery: "Elegant Machinery is a non political band, and as a band we don't make any political statements. We are far too different politically from each other to do that."
