‘Silent Alarm’ by BLOC PARTY from 2005 is still one of the strongest debuts of recent music history. And it has aged remarkably well. Just listen to this amazing opener ‘Like Eating Glass’: the slowly swelling guitar sounds, the snare sounding a soft alarm, until after 30 seconds this incredible drum groove kicks and finally Kele Okereke’s dramatic voice sounds: “It's so cold in this house / Open mouth swallowing us / The children sent home from school / Will not stop crying”. Already there is everything in it: the driving, the abysmal, and the hymnal and of course the charisma of an exceptional band.And amazingly good songs like the hectic ‘Helicopter’, the uber hits ‘Banquet’ and ‘This Modern Love’ and finally the melancholic bouncer ‘So Here We Are’, which at the very end takes the tempo off again and leaves you with goose bumps. After this hymn of praise, we are particularly pleased to announce that BLOC PARTY will be playing this album in June at three exclusive Germany shows in full length and in all its beauty - and in the end will surely add a handful of more recent hits.
