Line-up

Subway to Sally
Founded in 1992, the band gathered a devoted fan base around them due to countless live performances and strong albums. Today, the seven musicians excite thousands of people in Germany, Austria and the Switzerland. The trademarks of the band are harsh Rock and Metal music garnered with medieval melodies, woven into the sound with the help of bagpipe, symphonia, lute, mandolin, walt-pipe, violin and flute.

Corvus Corax
CORVUS CORAX is an institution, when it comes to medieval music. 17 years ago, these group of minstrels caused a stir in the musical world and soon shed some light on the dark ages of European history and showed that black death and crusades weren’t the only things in the almost 1000 years long aeon, we call medieval times today

Die Apokalyptischen Reiter
This band tears down all boundaries for more than one decade. The fond their home between melancholy and joy of life, between untamed hate and limitless love, between infatuating folk and crushing brutal sounds. Always new, always different, but with an unquestionable charm. This inflammation of the inner fire of passion makes Fuchs, Pitrone, Volk-Man, Dr.Pest and Sir G to one of the best German live bands, who were never limited to the borders of conventional metal, due to their enormous creativity.

Diary of Dreams
Once resident in the Dark Wave Genre, DIARY OF DREAMS developed their own style over the years and perfected it further with the most recent album ‘Nekrolog 43’. Gloomy, intense and full of fascinating secrets, the works of mastermind Adrian Hates receive worldwide credit. Whether in Moscow, Washington, Rome or Cape Town, DIARY OF DREAMS stirs their fans all around the globe. Surely a paradise bird among the medieval rock bands of the Hexentanz Festival, but DIARY OF DREAMS will rock the place, that’s for sure.

Saltatio Mortis
For almost seven years, the minstrels of SALTATIO MORTIS blessed the medieval music community with their mixture of medieval with rock elements before the line-up changed for the first time in the history of the band in autumn 2006. Three long-time fellows left the band, but the remaining members were not willing to let the band die. In 2007, they returned stronger than before, with new talented musicians and a brand-new album ‘Aus der Asche’, which hit the stores at the end of August 2007.

Coppelius
Nothing particular is known of this mysterious band. If you take a look on their homepage you can find a “concertography” dating back until the early 19th century but the first known appearance of COPPELIUS was the farewell tour of THE INCHTABOKTABLES where they had the support slot. They also performed as support for Mila Mar, Mutabor, Fiddler’s Green and others in 2003 & 2004. ‘Time-Zeit’ the band’s first album was released in September 2007.

Feuerschwanz
Peter Radnici, the mastermind behind FEUERSCHWANZ ahs already been involved in the medieval scene with his bands MERLON and MERLONS LICHTER and he saw medieval music from bands like INEXTEMO, SUBWAY TO SALLY and SCHANDMAUL regularly hit the mainstream charts, but never loosing their fans in the scene. But the attitude of those bands was too martial, dramatic or romantic, so he decided to add the ‘acted joke’ and to hold up the fool’s mirror to the scene in the tradition of ‘JBO’ and in November 2004 FEUERSCHWANZ was born live.

Scream Silence
From their first appearance in 1998 until now the band around singer and mastermind Hardy Fieting continuously developed their style. Ten years after the beginning, the band is already more than just another Goth-Rock band and singer Hardy Fieting became one of the best German live singers. The band already released six full-time albums and right now they’re working on the next album, but in May they take a short break to be at the Hexentanz Festival.

Nachtgeschrei
Archaic bagpipe sounds are mixed with cunning symphonia melodies, while a wall of guitar sounds crush down on playful flute lines. The world of NACHTGESCHREI is full of contradictions. Primeval, melodic yet with the needed harshness. Medieval rock without witches, hangman’s servants and minstrels, but direct and contemporary crucial, always between hard ‘n’ heavy and cosy folk.

The Pussybats
THE PUSSYBATS stand for sex, blood and Goth ‘n’ Roll. Guitarist Roy Rock, bass player Marple 8, drummer Mike Knight and singer Sid van Sin fuse rocking guitar riffs and gloomy atmospheres to catchy rock songs and know how to convince musically as well as through their furious live shows and at the Hexentanz Festival, you will have the chance to experience them by yourself.

Volkstrott
This band from Berlin shows, that the synthesis of bagpipe, violin and harsh rock music works, even without the medieval times. Driving riffs, straight rhythm work and beautiful to torturing melodies, create music between seducing beauty and gloomy harshness. Their debut album ‘Todeskunst’ came out in March 2007.

Ingrimm
The band loves the sounds of medieval instruments in combination with harsh guitar riffs and phat rhythms. Instead of delivering a show consisting of complicated fireworks and medieval clothes, the just stays true to what they are and do what they love to do. They tell stories and get childishly happy, when you like their stuff.
