The Gathering & Autumn

For everyone who hasn't spent the last decade in a fall-out shelter, the name of the band THE GATHERING stands for unique sound, developed within the last 20 years from hard gothic metal to dark and lyrical alternative rock. With their semi-acoustic album ‘Sleepy Buildings’ in 2004 the band definitely proved to deliver a perfect music and top-quality live experience. With the departure of the vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen in 2007 some has presaged the end of the band because many fans couldn’t imagine THE GATHERING without Anneke's cognizable voice. But with a new vocalist Silje Wergeland and new album ‘The West Pole’ released in May 2009, the band proved not only to stay as alive as before, but also to develop their sound further. This album was very positive surprise for all fans of the band and worth listening for everyone, who appreciates strong female vocals, accompanied by lyrical progressive metal.

On their 20th anniversary tour, THE GATHERING will be supported by their fellow countrymen AUTUMN who two years ago undergone the same change of female vocalist and the same scepticism from some of their fans, who had doubt if the band could manage to beware the quality of sound and vocals. But Marjan Welman proved to be undoubtedly suitable singer for the band. With the album ‘Altitude’ released in February 2009, AUTUMN could not only favour the old fans, but also to win many new ones.
