KARNIVOOL were formed in 1997 in Australia and 'Asymmetry' is their third release. The title of the album suits the disjointed and jarring feeling that is introduced throughout. Songs are contrasted, falling into and around itself, deconstruction in progress. The result is confusing, disorientating and yet somehow fitting certain emotional states. 'Aeons' have some fantastic lyrics and seem to hold onto firmer ground to name just one song out of here.
Conclusion: To be only approached on steady ears, adventurous spirit and open mind. KARNIVOOL is a great band that is not scared to go where it has to go and shed some listeners who expect preconceived notions. Intense and interesting album from an exciting band.
