After a few very lazy days I am back with Milan based BLACK PHANTOM. Formed in 2014 by Andrea Tito as a solo project, BLACK PHANTOM quickly became a full-fledged band assembling other ex-members of MESMERIZE (drummer Andrea Garavaglia and guitarist Luca Belbruno) among others (guitarist Roberto Manfrinato and vocalist Manuel Malini). ‘Zero Hour is Now’ is the band’s second full-length to date. In the meantime, Garavaglia left and was replaced by Ivan Carsenzoula. BLACK PHANTOM plays traditional Heavy Metal in the style of bands like IRON MAIDEN (well-executed melodies, talented artist in every field and a vocalist that hits high notes flawlessly). Ok, BLACK PHANTOM is not as playful as Steve Harris’ larger-than-life band but the general musical direction is the same. ‘Zero Hour is Now’ has a song called ‘Schattenjäger’; this song is present in two different versions, in English and completely in German.
Conclusion: If you are a fan of the NWoBHM and classic Metal in general you should check out BLACK PHANTOM, they might ring your bell.
