The guys around Geoff Thorpe are back! VICIOUS RUMORS return with a new release this very month. Record number 13 is named ‘Celebration Decay’ and shows the variable vocal talents of singer number 10: Nick Courtney! These guys formed a band in 1979 and still rock out but Geoff Thorpe is the only founding member left in the mix. I don’t know the reasons for the repeated problems in the bands line-up but it is a problem sound-wise because I saw the guys live a few years ago with Brian and thought he was an awesome fit but here we go again with a new one... don’t get me wrong, Thorpe always delivers quality steel of American imprint but the band needs consistency to make its mark upon the thousands of other bands that release music (some of them are fucking great). If you like their even heavier approach you are in for a treat, VICIOUS RUMORS sound a bit like a Thrash band on this LP and I think I need time to digest the change.
Conclusion: If you love thrash and dig complex yet heavy arrangements check this out!
