MEPHOBIA is a Death Thrash band from Vienna, Austria and ‘Reign Of The Degenerates’ is their first full-length kick in the nuts. Formed just two years prior (pre plague) these guys released four singles already this year and now I have the mission to review this mean little piece of pitch-black hate. Until this day I always thought life in Vienna was pretty neat but MEPHOBIA and their rabies ridden vocalist Raph (he sounds so pissed that it makes me think living in Vienna is actually beyond awful). The instrument aside from Raph’s pipes of steel, that I want to highlight the most here is the drum kit of Rob (it gets so severely beaten and kicked, poor thing). The drums on this record are definitely insane, the riffs and bass are kick-ass but what I felt the most are the vocals and the drums. If you need one death thrash record in 2021 its name is ‘Reign of the Degenerates’.
Conclusion: This is like a brick in the teeth, if that is your thing this the brick to buy.
