Review Flash

On first listening to the opening track, and single, ‘Driving To You’ by THE BRUTE, it’s tempting to dismiss it as yet another attempt by yet another project to sound like DEPECHE MODE back when they were good. And then, after a few more listens, it becomes very clear that this is indeed an accurate conclusion. Move forward to ‘Stay’, and Gahan is probably speed-dialling his lawyers. And by ‘Absolute Disgrace’ (somewhat apt it has to be said), THE BRUTE has now decided to reinvent themselves as a lucrative wedding and funeral tribute band called MEPECHE DODE and have purchased some nipple clamps. On a positive note. No. No. Actually, there is nothing positive. Except to say there is absolutely nothing at all wrong with this album other than its blatant, and sadly second-rate, plagiarism.

Conclusion: Songs Of Faith And Devotion - The Wilderness Years…

Rating: 3 / 10
