Not many bands come to mind when the words Serbia and Thrash Metal are uttered in any Metal-based conversation, WAR ENGINE work on changing this since 2009. ‘Decadence’ is the band’s third full-length to date. When it comes to WAR ENGINE’s sound, I can only say that this is not your technical or melodic Thrash but rather a black ops operation to melt your face of and stomp you to bits with pure aggressive, violent heavy music. The vocals by Dusan Mijolic are driven by rage and frustration and they bulldozer everything to dust what dares to stand in their way (dude’s an animal on the six-string too). The rhythm section is pretty wild to be honest, well timed and quite brutal they keep the riffs and vocals a bit in line to not create too much chaos. All in all, this is a band and record for every Thrash Metal enthusiast because it is hard, fast and takes no prisoners.
Conclusion: Not the most melodic endeavour but true to the genre and brutal enough to appeal to fans of Thrash and Death alike.
