Woke up, feeling nicely energised. Bit of sunshine, good strong coffee, ready for whatever delights the day wants to roll my way. And lo! To make me smile, here rolls an amusing comedy album by a duo singing a bit in French and a bit in English, and describing themselves as Electro-Romantic! What joy! I feel, to be honest, lucky to be living on this lush green planet right now.
And then comes the realisation, dear reader, that this is no comedy album. That the hideous, out of tune, amateur harmonies and embarrassing lyrics (“you will walk, you will run, to the end of my Leprechaun”) are for real, the flat, dead synths offer nothing but a flaccid fart in the face of anything even vaguely resembling a tune, and the glut of remixes jostling for attention at the end of this horrible mess, merely illustrate the absolute delusion that somehow, this is a great record.
Conclusion: If this truly is a comedy record, then the joke is on me, and I will happily chortle to eternity. All together now, “you will walk, you will run…”
