Review Flash

When I first heard of HELIOS in 2020 I was unaware of who these guys are and what quality steel would be laid upon me. I don't know how four ex-members of the Pittsburg and Tim Aymar (CONTROL DENIED, ANGBAND, PHARAOH and many, many more) did meet and decide to form a new kick-ass Metal band bound to rip your head off but I am happy it happened. The first self-titled EP ‘Helios’ was upon the best things to happen in 2020 and if this full-length does nothing more than keep this quality it will be one of the best of 2022. Normally I consider it to be a lazy ass act to get enough playtime when adding songs from a demo or EP (‘Like A Gun’, ‘Hellbender’) but these are my faves of the EP and they do sound way better so I dig it. Tracks like ‘Keep It True’ as cheesy as some of our favourite heavy songs can get is a real banger and a sure application to play there in 2023. As always Tim Aymar’s voice is a great foundation to base your songs on and these guys do not disappoint. The song material is very melodic and as catchy as the glorious 80s could get on their best days, you know from the get go that these guys are no newbies to the scene.

Conclusion: If your heart beats faster when listening to W.A.S.P, JUDAS PRIEST or DOKKEN you need HELIOS in your life!
