Review Flash

If you dig Thrash Metal and don’t mind the extra filthy vocals that draw inspiration from a howling dervish on coke: VARNOK is your new favourite poison! Formed in 2012 ,with the mission to annihilate their home state of California, this three-piece set out to kick asses left a right. When it comes to song-writing, VARNOK is more like an axe then a scalpel because as soon as you press play things get rough as fuck. Vocal-wise Ralex Friesen is best described as a growling bulldozer from hell, his riffs are way more technical but they don't take the edge off the brutal music (I guess being rough as hell is the goal here). The drums played by Julian Baca add a lot of extra brutality to the already harsh sound. Sometimes due to the raw texture of the music I can hardly decide if I am actually listening to pure thrash or if this is a mix between thrash and death metal. The answer to that question might be: if you like both subgenres this band might be what you are searching for.

Conclusion: This is way more brutal than I expected but the technicality is definitely a nice touch.
