Paradise Lost & Anathema
It was in May 2008 that PARADISE LOST released their new DVD ‘The Anatomy of Melancholy’. But that wasn’t just an ordinary release for this band which is known to be the creator of a whole new genre: The Gothic Metal, a mixture which appeared for the first time on the album ‘Gothic’ in 1991. Since then a lot of time has passed and a lot of albums have been released, culminating up to the release of their eleventh album ‘In Requiem’ back in 2007. The DVD was a gift to the fans to celebrate their 20th anniversary and for this special occasion, the band has played a few hand selected anniversary shows in Europe, the last one being the show at the Kulturfabrik in Krefeld. The support slot was taken by the British rockers of ANATHEMA.

Nocturnal Culture Night III Day 3: Leandra, Schallfaktor, The Lovecrave, Colony 5, Amnistia, Catastrophe Ballett, Heimataerde, Staubkind, Umbra Et Imago
Final day of the festival. The rain stopped some when during the night and a cool late-summer morning welcomed the festival attendees. Highlight of Sunday night for lots of people was surely the appearance of UMBRA ET IMAGO with their special show and a lot of fun they spread.

Nocturnal Culture Night III Day 2: Headless, The Pussybats, Sins Of The Flesh, Lahannya, State Of The Union, Minerve, Terminal Choice, Soman, S.P.O.C.K, Psyche, Fixmer / McCarthy
Personally, the second festival day was my favourite one with S.P.O.C.K and FIXMER / McCARTHY being on the schedule. As I learned later, that day would turn out totally unexpected. And of course, the weather would show later in “best” festival traditions… means it was heavily pouring down. But when the first bands started, it was still dry and very warm.

Nocturnal Culture Night III Day 1: Illusion Of Light, Supreme Court, Santa Hates You, Fetisch: Mensch, Orange Sektor, Sara Noxx and Friends
Also this year, small Deutzen near Leipzig was calling for another edition of the Nocturnal Culture Night Festival taking place in the wonderful surrounding of the Kulturpark. Already at the Friday night, lots of people made the way to the festival area to start the weekend with SARA NOXX or FETISCH:MENSCH. And of course, we were also welcomed “officially” by the typical Deutzen weather: rain. Even though it was only a few drops late at Friday night luckily... this should change the upcoming day.
