8th May 2007
Battlelore, Remember Twilight
Before it unfortunately closed its doors at the end of May, the club Universum in Stuttgart had yet some very nice events like concerts and farewell parties to offer to the interested visitor. This cold and rainy Tuesday evening they had invited the Finnish Metal band BATTLELORE, supported by the "chamber music core" formation REMEMBER TWILIGHT from Germany. When I arrived at the venue, which was just about in time for the admission at half past eight, hardly two dozens of people had made their way to the Universum, and the club should unfortunately remain very empty during the whole evening. There must have been 30-40 persons if at all.

Funker Vogt, NoyceTM, Dioxide
Once again this evening, the Universum Stuttgart, which has celebrated its farewell party recently on May 19th, had invited to a special event for the friends of electronic music. FUNKER VOGT, the German Electro/EBM heroes, were to present their newest release ‘Aviator’ to their fans, and were the night's headliners. But there should be more goodies for the visitors, like the openers DIOXIDE from Germany and NOYCETM, Oliver Goetz and Florian Schäfer's electronic music project. The Universum was about half-filled, and during the first two bands' performances the audience was quite retained, which observably changed when Jens Kästel and his band mates from FUNKER VOGT entered the stage.

With Full Force Day 1: BRUJERIA, CANNIBAL CORPSE, HATEBREED and KORN
I was sitting in the car, driving towards Leipzig and it started raining. Was this supposed to be the beginning of a cold and rainy festival? Actually, it was not. The sky cleared up soon afterwards and I was ready to start the WITH FULL FORCE 2007. With bands like CANNIBAL CORPSE, CALIBAN, KORN and AMON AMARTH it was promised to be a fantastic festival.

Every year, on Ascension Day, a festival is held in the east of The Netherlands. It's known for its very early start in the morning, and that's also why it's called "Dauwpop". This name refers to the Dutch expression: "Getting up before day and dew". The gates are opened at 8.30 a.m. and shortly after that the first band already starts playing. I decided not to be there that early, because I had to pick up some people on the road and the trip would be more than one hour and a half to drive. The most interesting bands, the bands we'll discuss in this review, would play later that day.

This year was the 20th anniversary of the Waldrock festival. 20 years ago the festival started out with one stage, and all sorts of music. It took a few years for Waldrock to become a hardrock/metal festival. The first few years only a few thousand people made it to the field. Nowadays Waldrock had about 8000 visitors each year. They have expanded from one stage in the beginning to this year having three stages for the first time.
