Album Review

Founded in 2001, the German Electro formation CENTHRON released its debut album `Lichtsucher´ two years later and took a lot of credit for the furious recording that was produced without a label. The mercilessly pumping beats combined with German lyrics and military-like appearances including uniforms were controversially debated; however, the whole package acquired many enthused listeners with dance ambitions. Supported by the label Final Dusk, CENTHRON recorded the second long-player `Gottwerk´ in 2006 that caused a dance floor inferno again.

Now, CENTHRON was signed at Scanner / Dark Dimensions and `Roter Stern´, the meanwhile third stroke, has arrived at the record stores and should make all the fans of harsh Electro sounds crying tears of joy. The uncompromisingly booming basses, distorted German / English vocals and some movie samples create a dark and aggressive atmosphere that virtually forces people to dance.
The first track `WK III´ points the album’s way by a Synths sounds introduction that soon leads over to classical Electro beats. The tough lyrics are a matter of taste. However, I think that they don’t play that big role within this musical thunderstorm, as genre fans will be primarily captivated by the dance floor-ability which can be attested as a matter of fact. Every now and then, the acoustic hell fire is alternated with female vocals and melodic, nearly playful keyboard sounds. The eighth track `Fast Blast´ is audibly influenced by technoid anthems.

My personal favourite is ´Godmachine´ due to a hypnotic rhythm that is able to seduce even non-dancers like me to wiggle the feet. Moreover, the piece is accompanied by cool and less evil speech singing. The final mid-tempo track `Die Galeere´ is a nice surprise and stands out from the crowd of the previous blasts, as it comes up with some organ playing and angelic vocals.
