Artist: Koh
Genre:  Metal / Electro / Alternative
Release Date:  3rd March 2008

Introduction

"KOH was formed in summer, 2003. when vocalist Peda Cetinjanin joined the trio of Bojan Petkovic (guitars), Stjepan Perkovic (bass) and Bojan Ulemek (drums). The next year KOH won the local band competition in Karlovac. Two years later, Dario Lonjak (keyboards, samples, effects) joined the band, which led to the fusion of modern rock metal and elements of industrial/electronic music in the songwriting process. In 2007, the band played several concerts, appearing on the biggest Croatian festivals such as Urban Fest Osijek, Croatian Music Festival, Istra Rock Festival, the famous Viva la Pola Festival and, among more than 100 bands KOH got to the finals of Art & Music Festival. During the same year, KOH started recording ‘The Censor EP’, which came out on March, 1st, 2008., featuring 4 tracks." (taken from www.myspace.com/kohmusic)

Detailed Review

1. Use You (4:54)
The first song reminds a little of Slipknot and Korn, with a touch of electro. The melody and guitar lines are kept rather simple but therefore very catchy, the vocal constancy makes it very pleasing to the ear and the electronic backing is done subtly. All in all it's a song to lose track of time.

2. The Censor (5:09)
The melody of ‘The censor’ makes you nod along without even noticing and one feels somehow connected to the song. It's a little sad the vocals are that muted but the good audibility’s compensating this minus.

3. Thoughtful Animal (4:16)
My personal favourite first starts with an electronic part that turns into fast riffing resolving into a quieter verse with the fast bridge and chorus as counterpart. It also has a great interlude at the end.

4. Korona (4:19)
The last song is instrumental only. It's reflective and has its main focus on the keyboard. And actually there is nothing more to say about "Korona" since you has to hear it yourself in order to get the atmosphere.
