WALTARI is a crossover rock outfit from Finland, set on its journey since 1986. The crossover mix is varied for sure and one gets a feeling it’s a desperate clutch at originality; problem is that it doesn’t really gel. Nice riffs spread out here and there, good groove, nice theatricality in diverse approaches to vocals doesn’t make up for the fact that there is nothing to really make it outstanding or even mediocre. Even though every song is not what you’d expect even their fun aspects, few interesting ideas get drowned out by vacuity behind the album. Sometimes less is really more and more is far too much. It’s too hard to get any shred enthusiasm here.
