dourfestivalThis year, as you may have noticed, Dour Festival has decided to announce a bunch of names each week accoring to their very precise musical genre. Dour Festival is proud of its diversity and is proud to offer 7 stages on which around 200 bands and DJs will appear, each stage with a specific musical direction. Whether you like rock, electro, hip-hop, reggae or metal, at Dour there will be those artists for you and a stage which you will feel close to. All this for a very democratic price, too! This week, it's time for some rock (and trip-hop), and we are proud to reveal three new, and by no means meagre, names: Suede, AaRON and The Herbaliser. Jump for joy, if you like, but don't expend too much energy - this is only the beginning. There are a whole load of other rock artists to come.

Suede
This year, Dour Festival has the immense honour of welcoming back Suede, legends who returned to the front of the stage a few months ago after an 8-year absence! The group, formed in 1989, was one of the pioneers of the Brit-pop wave along with Pulp, Blur, and Oasis. Over the course of their 5 albums, their pop-rock, tinted with a touch of glam, became infectious the world over (they first came to Dour in 1995), and they count too many cult hits to their name to be able to put a number on.

However, in 2003 they separated, and it was until 2010 that we had to wait to witness a true return of the group on stage. Their first concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London was sold out in 20 minutes and the following European tour leaves no doubt as to the depth with which Suede has affected a collective spirit. A re-release of old albums, re-mastered and enriched with unedited tracks is set to come out in June 2011.

Following an incredible performance at Brussels' Cirque Royal last November, they are coming to present an exclusive and memorable evening at Dour Festival 2011!

AaRON
Acheiving reknown following the hit U-Turn (Lili), the Parisian duo of AaRON is back for the second time at Dour Festival 2011 Following a first, double-platinum album, their singer Simon Buret and the button-twiddler Olivier Coursier have plunged us back into their pool of ethereal, atmospheric rock with their second opus Birds in the Storm (2010). A metaphor for continuing to fly against furious winds, the album sounds cathartic, and necessary.Following several imminent big dates (at Le Trianon, Forest National, Zenith de Paris), AaRON will launch into a tour of the most prestigious Francophone festivals: Printemps de Bourges, Francos de La Rochelle... and not to forget, the 23rd Dour Festival!

The Herbaliser
More than just an electro group, The Herbaliser is, above all, a collective of digital pioneers, led by Jake Wherry and Ollie Teeba. For more than 10 years, they have been the figureheads of the exciting crossover between electronic music, hip-hop, trip-hop and funk. Formed of nine musicians on stage (brass, keyboards, guitar, bass, DJs), their formation has hit upon a winning recipe, tried, tested, and altered over the course of their successive albums. If you come to Dour for the rock, indie, metal/hardcore, reggae or hip-hop, there will be more confirmations announced in the coming weeks.
