1.: AMORPHIS confirmed
Perfectly in time with the release of their new hit album 'The Beginning Of Times', we are happy to announce Finland's best melodic death metal band, AMORPHIS. Always welcome guests at SUMMER BREEZE, AMORPHIS will headline the Pain Stage on one of the three festival days, captivating us all with their gripping, magical melodies.
Guarantee for a perfect mix of death metal, Finnish folk, a slight prog edge and a little added melancholy, the band has been riding high again since the addition of frontman Tomi Joutsen. With the release of their “comeback” album 'Eclipse', the band was able to tie in with old classics such as 'Tales >From The Thousand Lakes' and 'Elegy' after something of a dry spell at the beginning of the century. 3.: Only 2,000 tickets left
There are only a little over 2,000 tickets for SUMMER BREEZE 2011 left on www.silverdust-shop.de. Those of you who still don't own one must really hurry up now. Once the tickets are sold out in our own online store it is only a question of (in this case a very short) time until the participating pre-sale outlets also display the “SOLD OUT” sign. You know, the devil takes the hindmost!
4.: NEW BLOOD AWARD 2011 – Voting
After over 2,000 submissions from all over the world – thank you very much to all the participating bands – and endless hours in the preselection process, we can finally announce the TOP 20 bands for the NEW BLOOD AWARD 2011!
As of today you will find all 20 bands that made it into the online voting on www.new-blood-award.de. >From now on it's entirely up to you, which luchy six of them we will see in wonderful Dinkelsbühl next August!
These are the rules:
- each band has to be rated
- we use a rating scale from 1 (awful) to 5 (awesome)
- only registered members of the www.summer-breeze.de community are allowed to vote
- voting ends on May 31st, 2011
- all valid votes will automatically enter a raffle for 5 x two 3-day tickets for SUMMER BREEZE Open Air 2011
The Top 6 bands resulting from this voting process will open proceedings on the tent stage on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 17th, 2011, competing to win the NEW BLOOD AWARD, which is up for grabs for the second time this year. Furthermore, the winner will inaugurate the open air part of the festival on one of the main stages on Thursday, August 18th, 2011 and will also gain a promotion deal with the Brainstorm company.
So don't waste any more time and start voting! The underground is more alive than ever! And if your band didn't make it this year, there sure will be a NEW BLOOD AWARD in 2012!
5.: BLASMUSIK ILLENSCHWANG sound the battle charge
The brass band BLASMUSIK ILLENSCHWANG was born out of a bet in 1986. Nowadays, this is the only music group that can play the SUMMER BREEZE Open Air each and every year. Because on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, before the metal starts with the New Blood Award, the “101st band” BLASMUSIK ILLENSCHWANG will inaugurate the festival in style, with trumpets and drums.
And the fans have already proven that it hasn't necessarily have to be brutal riffs and manic drums coming out of the speakers in order to headbang and mosh properly. Hence, the afternoon of August 17th is a mandatory date for all of you! Is there any better way to start a festival?
