meraluna2023 firstbandsHow do you describe a weekend that you really have to experience? Much new, but nothing forgotten. Even a festival is constantly changing. With the new Club Stage and a large rearranged concert and camping site, we were very excited this year to see how you would like the change. And what shall we say? The atmosphere on the campsite and in front of the new stage spoke volumes! Aside from the even warmer “Hello” and “Long time no see!” the M’era Luna 2022 was a seamless connection to the times before the pandemic: you haven’t forgotten anything when it comes to partying!

How quickly the acoustic nectar seeps back into the live music-hungry mind could be observed with the driving beats of In STRICT CONFIDENCE and NACHTMAHR. The dancing leg was quickly up to operating temperature again and well prepared for the EBM monoliths NITZER EBB. The hypnotic-melancholic concerts by BLUTENGEL, THE MISSION and SCHANDMAUL, among others, featured profound song lyrics, although the latter of course also added a touch of the Middle Ages. Saturday night’s kings were of course ASP FT. THE LITTLE BIG MEN, because performing with your own tribute band is only possible in the ASP universe!

And where volume normally plays a major role, a delicate tenderness entered the stage. THE LORD OF THE LOST ENSEMBLE performed their songs in a ballad-esque beauty that sent goosebumps everywhere. Who says that only loud can be intense? The same applies to VNV NATION CLASSICAL. VNV NATION’s synthpop in a philharmonic guise not only made for a cracking concert area, but also for reverential silence and revelry in the audience. What an atmosphere!

The noble festival drop in 2022 was first corked by the venerable THE SISTERS OF MERCY, who, with incredible joy of playing, shot a firework of hits into the emerging night that left no eye dry. And who rounds off the bouquet better than the NDH heroes EISBRECHER, who, as usual, sanded the hearing with pithy slogans and milling guitars and let the M’era Luna 2022 end with a bang.

And so from Saturday a golden sun shone on the cosy hustle and bustle on the medieval market, touched the merchants’ mile and threw shadow plays in the disco hangar, where visitors could not only listen to exciting readings by Markus Heitz, Lydia Benecke and Isa Theobald, but also by the M’era Luna Academy was invited to Shibari performances, M’era Luna fashion shows, an astrology workshop or the first Live Crypt Talk. How peaceful, how ecstatic, how beneficial it all is. Thank you for an unforgettable weekend. Once again. Finally again.

Also this time we took the opportunity to present you the first bands for the coming year. Enjoy: IN EXTREMO, PROJECT PITCHFORK, SUBWAY TO SALLY, JOACHIM WITT, THE 69 EYES, SOLAR FAKE, LETZTE INSTANZ, GOTHMINISTER, BLITZ UNION
