When 15-year-old prodigy Christofer Johnsson launched THERION as a Death Metal band in 1987, he had no idea that exactly 30 years later, he would be putting a finishing touch to a project that would go down in history as the most ambitious symphonic metal release of all time. Although “metal operas” are no longer a rare term for the scene, but on January 26 this designation will receive a new definition once the curtain has opened for Johnson’s life’s work: ‘Beloved Antichrist’ is the title of the spectacular creation of THERION, whose length extends to three full CDs and is not just a concept album, but a completely staged rock opera with various acts. It presents a compelling story, which was roughly inspired by Vladímir Soloviov’s ‘Short Story of Antichrist’.

Twenty-six years ago, two Gothic people from Leipzig had an unusual idea: They didn’t want to create yet another dark music festival but rather a supra-regional gathering of like-minded fellows for relaxed meeting, chatting and celebrating. When the 1st Wave-Gotik-Treffen took place in 1992 at the edge of Leipzig with about 2,000 visitors and just a handful of bands, it is unlikely that anyone imagined that within a few years the WGT would become the largest meeting of Gothic people in the world, taking possession of a whole city every year at Whitsun. Now, the WGT exists more than a quarter-century… from May 18th to 21st, again more than 20,000 Gothics from all over the world are expected to come together again in Leipzig to celebrate Wave-Gotik-Treffen as THE international gathering of the dark family.

The American band, originally from Bergen County, New Jersey, began in 1990 as part of the Hardcore music scenes of New York City and New Jersey. The band was one of the first ones fusing Hardcore and Rap. DOG EAT DOG has achieved commercial success with singles such as ‘No Fronts’ or ‘Expect The Unexpected’ - all showcasing their blend of Hardcore, Rap and saxophone. Since their first album, the band’s sound has evolved to incorporate elements of Funk, Ska and Hip Hop.
