The appearance of Norwegian Black Metallers TROLL at the Aronnesrocken Festival in Alta, in the north of Norway, on the 20th August, has stirred up the ire of the local branch of the ultra conservative Christian Democratic Party, who are one of the supporters of the festival, and who have threatened to withdraw their support for the festival as a consequence. Their objections, as is usually the case when it comes to Black Metal bands, centre on the use of Satanic or Anti Christian lyrics, which have been, once again, freely quoted out of context.- Details

The Greek melodic metal phenomenon FIREWIND, led by the young guitar sensation Gus G. Cali thrashers WARBRINGER are back with a bang to destroy Europe’s stages once again in August and September. They will kick off their Euro trip at the SUMMER BREEZE OPEN AIR on Saturday, August 21st before hitting the road with Skeletonwitch and their label mates Spanish thrash hopefuls Angelus Apatrida. The final voting round for the local support contest for the upcoming DARK TRANQUILLITY "WHERE DEATH IS MOST ALIVE TOUR 2010" came to an end. Close to 600 bands from all over Europe submitted to the contest and Century Media picked the 158 best to take part of the voting. Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R Century Media Records Europe: "I know it's a cliché that a record label A&R will never listen to any demo bands are sending in. But me and my college Dario Dumancic listened to ALL 600 bands!!! Why we picked only 158? Because not every band seemed to be ready to play in front of Dark Tranquillity's fans because these fans bought a ticket for the shows and deserve a certain quality. And most other bands were too far away from playing anything to close to Death Metal.
