Sweden - This is crisp bread, Köttbullar, Ikea, H&M and wooden cottages. Amongst all these things, the country can come up with some other highlights. In the way of 80es US Glam like TWISTE SISTER, MÖTLEYCRÜE, POISON SKID ROW and GUNS N' ROSES comes a new spandex highlight of a special kind.

‘The Unattractive Revolution’ is the second album of the Swedish band CRASHDIET and will be released in Germany on the 23rd November 2007. Their first album ‘Rest in Sleaze’ was released in 2005 and was a big success in Sweden. The former singer Dave Lepard committed suicide short before the international breakthrough of the band. A notch for him was found with the new fronter Oliver Twist, who has more L.A feeling than Axl Rose and Dr.Dre together. 2 Songs of the new album were produced with the help of no-one less than Mick Mars of MÖTLEY CRÜE who travelled to Sweden to work on the new songs together with guitarist Martin Sweet.

CRASHDIET will also come to Germany and Europe as support for the Swedish band HARDCORE SUPERSTARS. (Dates below)

Biography 2007

Few people expected CRASHDIET to return after singer Dave Lepard’s killed himself in 2006. The band is now back with a new album, new singer and new energy. On “The Unattractive Revolution” CRASHDIET have collaborated with Mick Mars from Motley Crue and American producer/mixer Kevin Churko.

When CRASHDIET singer Dave Lepard was found dead in his apartment on January 20th 2006 everything fell apart for the band. After a short career where drugs and music went hand in hand, the group disbanded. After Dave’s funeral outside the city of Uppsala, the remaining members of the band decided to quit and went their separate ways. Some chose to continue doing drugs, while others decided to turn their life around.

Six months later, the members of the band met again by coincidence. Since their break-up they had been celebrated as one of the best hard rock bands of 2005 in both Swedish and international media and the hype around their debut album” Rest in Sleaze” kept growing. Encouraged by Dave’s mother Lisbeth, the remaining members regained their lost enthusiasm and decided to reform the band.

They spent the last second half of 2006 searching the world for a new singer. After searching countries like Brazil, England, Scotland and the United States for the right singer to carry on Dave’s legacy, they ended up in Finland. In the most barren parts of the country they discovered Olliver Twisted, a 24 year-old singer with more of L.A. in his blood than David Lee Roth and Dr Dre combined.

On the 21st of January 2007, the “new” CRASHDIET entered the stage for a sold out show at Debaser in Stockholm. The “Rest in Sleaze-festival - in the memory of Dave Lepard” started with Lisbeth presenting the first Dave Lepard scholarship and continued with the band playing some of their classic tracks, including ”Riot In Everyone”, ”It’s a Miracle” but also the brand new ”Falling Rain”. The successful comeback show was well documented by fans with cell phone cameras and posted on numerous websites. The band spent the spring and summer of 2007 in the studio, working on new material produced by Patrik Frisk. The album was mixed in Los Angeles and Las Vegas by Kevin Churko.

CRASHDIET also took some time off from recording to try out the new material on a live audience. They appeared in front of almost 10 000 fans at the Sweden Rock Festival, which caused Swedish leading newspaper “Expressen” to write: “They are received as gods and the material from their debut album “Rest in Sleaze” has an enormous impact….among the new songs, “Falling Rain” has an instant appeal. (Martin Carlsson/Expressen)”.

CRASHDIET was formed in Stockholm in the year 2000. They immediately started rehearsing with dreams of the rock n´ roll lifestyle, but things soon took a turn for the worse. Constant disagreements within the band, bloody fights and other problems caused them to break up before they even got started. Inspired by the sleaze- and hard rock-scene of the 1980´s and with an un-healthy interest in the sex, drugs and rock ´n roll lifestyle, things soon got serious. A spontaneous 5.000 USD bank loan resulted in a bag of custom printed guitar picks and a demo tape that eventually found its way to Universal Music’s office. The fascination with the rock n´ roll lifestyle is still there, even though they now know the consequences all too well.

- We have realized that if we continue to live the way we did in 2005, we will all die. And our best friend died. We just can’t live like that anymore on a daily basis, says bass player Peter London. The band was on the verge of an international break when things started to fall apart. A tour of Japan had to be cancelled the last minute and the band was in bad shape.

- After playing at “Access All Areas” high on drugs and sounding terrible in front of the international media crowd, we realized that drugs had become the main reason for being in the band; it wasn’t about the music anymore. But now we’re focusing on the music again, Eric Young says.

After the band got their act together they were more determined in succeeding than ever before. Some of the songs on the forthcoming album deal with the fascination and grief about death and about loosing a best friend. On the album you can also find the much talked about collaboration with Mick Mars from Motley Crue. Mick Mars flew into Stockholm for a few days to work exclusively with CRASHDIET and the result – punk rocking “I Don’t Care” and melodic “Alone”– are two of many highlights on the album.
