In mid-August Wuppertal will once again experience a journey through time into distant worlds: on the 17th and 18th of August the FEUERTAL FESTIVAL will take place on the Hardt, one of the most atmospheric and atmospheric open air spaces in Germany. The line-up has now been announced:

17th August2018: Versengold, Bannkreis, Coppelius, Krayenzeit, Dunkelschön
18th August2018: Saltatio Mortis, Schandmaul (acoustic), Paddy And The Rats, Ganaim, Incantatem, Punch 'n' Judy

VERSENGOLD - a band at the top of their game will headline the first festival day! Within only a few years the group from Bremen has catapulted itself to the top of the scene. These folk rockers combine historical texts with modern folk elements. VERSENGOLD are currently on a successful tour of their latest album ‘Funkenflug’.

With SALTATIO MORTIS and SCHANDMAUL both appearing on the second day of the event, two absolute heavyweights from the medieval scene will grace the Waldbühne stage. The medieval rockers of SALTATIO MORTIS have managed to conquer the Number 1 spot in the German album charts with two releases in a row. With their last album, ‘Zirkus Zeitgeist’, which seemed much fresher and more modern in terms of content, lyrics and music, the band is continuing their rising trend and has delivered two sold-out tours in succession. They also boast of more than 155,000 Facebook Likes, their video for the hit ‘Wo sind die Clowns’ has over 4 million views, and the video for the band anthem ‘Wachstum über alles’ even more than 5 million views.

SCHANDMAUL, who will present an acoustic show at the FEUERTAL FESTIVAL, have seen their albums in the Top 10. At the end of August 2013, the band celebrated its fifteenth anniversary at the Cologne Tanzbrunnen. In addition to the SCHANDMAUL career with himself, the band members also released a successful children’s album ‘Schandmäulchens Abenteuer’.

BANNKREIS is a project formed around the musician Johanna Krins and Eric Fish. The latter has developed a notable reputation as the front man of the band SUBWAY TO SALLY. The band, twice nominated for the Echo music prize and also in 2008 won the Bundesvison Song Contest, has released 12 studio albums, performed in practically every corner of Germany and numerous times internationally. With music as his lifeblood, Eric, also experienced solo activities in the early 2000s. At a concert in Munich in 2012 Eric Fish met the then 18-year-old singer Johanna Krins. It quickly became clear that they had more in common than just the love of music with folk influences. Like Eric, Johanna plays several instruments, as well as her own musical project, and also shares Eric’s deeply felt emotions.

After a year of abstinence from the stage, the men of COPPELIUS (finally!) return to the stages of the world. Good sounds are back in the air: in 2018, the five musicians, together with their valet Bastille, once again conjure up the well-known inferno of their incomparable rock music on stage for the first time. Using classical chamber music instruments and wearing the finest of suits, Coppelian style is introduced. A unique and outstanding live show- can be expected - as has been customary by these gentlemen.

PADDY & THE RATS was formed in 2008 by singer and songwriter Paddy, Vince (bass) and Joey (electric guitar) and complete with Seamus, Sonny and Sam. In 2012, Sonny left the band and was replaced by Bernie. The band combines pub music with finest punk rock flourished with touches of Irish-Celtic, gypsy and pirate influences. Their last album, ‘Lonely Hearts’ Boulevard’ was released in 2014.

The line-up is complemented by the traditional Celtic band GANAIM with Pinto from VERSENGOLD, the crossover folk of PUNCH 'N' JUDY, the captivating mystical mixture of metal and cello & flute of INCANTATEM, the Celtic sounds of DUNKELSCHÖN, as well as the folk rockers of KRAYENZEIT.

This open air event on the Waldbühne Hardt, centring around medieval rock sounds and a breath-taking historical atmosphere, has long had cult status in and out of the scene. In addition to the main stage a traditional medieval market will invite you to browse in bygone times. In addition to crafts and all sorts of beautiful things, there will also be a splendid gourmet mile, which will provide hospitality. For a whole two days, this area in the heart of Wuppertal will transform into colourful medieval hustle and bustle!
