15th October 2012
Radiohead

RADIOHEAD never chose the easy way- They could've easily adopted the style introduced on 'Pablo Honey' and which made songs such as 'Creep' stadium material. Instead they chose creative freedom over international commercial success. 'The Bends' hinted at the development that would come in certain songs. RADIOHEAD had gone experimenting with stylistic elements that were uncommon at the time and for some still are today.

But it was the combination of everything that made 'OK Computer' the success it still is and which defined a new sound. IN the following years, the band abandoned the classic rock format, made heavy use of partly vintage electronic equipment and pushed their own, as well as their listeners boundaries further while constantly acquiring a larger international fan base. The venture into electronics, krautrock and jazz wasn't easy to grasp for everyone.

Later albums brought back a lot of the traditional sound, most notable on 'Hail To The Thief' and 'In Rainbows' never neglecting the experimental spirit and which brings forth a lot of quirky moments as included on their latest release 'The King Of Limbs'. On their currently ongoing tour which was overshadowed by the tragic stage accident, they're sure going to play songs of every era in a way that you will most likely never forget. ON their little German leg they're also hitting Cologne, playing the Lanxess Arena, so if you live anywhere near that area, you should hurry getting a ticket. Doesn't look like they're playing another show around here.
