Review Flash

UV POP, the one-man project of Sheffield based John K. White, was kind of famous in the first half of the eighties, especially due to the debut single ‘No Songs Tomorrow‘ being produced by CABARET VOLTAIRE. By now, the project is nearly forgotten, but still has its lovers. American label Scared Bones re-released the debut single and first album, the second album, ‘Bendy Baby Man’, was re-released by German minimal-electro label Genetic Music. The album is re-mastered and released as CD in Digipak. Musically, the album moves somewhere between bands like THE SMITHS or TUXEDOMOON. The album release is extended by the addition of the experimental EP ‘Anyone For Me’, an unreleased radio live version of ‘No Songs Tomorrow’ plus a new recording of the hit. There is new interest in the project and so, it reformed as real band that could be seen even live on stage. We can be curious what the band will present next!

Conclusion: Great album for lovers of bands like CABARET VOLTAIRE, CLOCK DVA, FAD GADGET or THE SMITHS.
