Another MONSTER MAGNET remix album? Well... yes! Dave Wyndorf can’t get enough of his own work and I think it is a good sign that he feels this way, he doesn`t go the MANOWAR route and just re-records his old stuff, no he gets it done in another way he didn`t see at first and that makes this material unique and very different. Just like ‘Milking The Stars: a re-imagining of Last Patrol’, ‘Cobras and Fire (The Mastermind Redux)’ takes songs from the record ‘Mastermind’ and reimagines the source material as they see fit. It is fuzzy, psychedelic and retro as fuck.
Conclusion: if you are a fan of MONSTER MAGNET and their style you will want to check this record, if you did dig the last reimagining you will probably buy this output unheard, be it like it is you won’t regret it because Wyndorf is always a treasure when it comes to creating powerful music in a stoner laden psychedelic way (and he kicks ass too).
