When it comes to SHUULAK this ain’t my first rodeo, I reviewed them in June of last year after seeing them in a YouTube video of the Goreminister (a channel I enjoy more than I probably should). Though the first impression was that SHUULAK is a Goth or Black Metal band, as soon as I heard them play, I realized they are a pretty melodic mix of melodic and Groove Metal with an awesome vocalist. Vocalist Bastiën Baron has very distinctive voice, clear singing fits as well as more smoke drenched vocals (a nice and rich voice in the tradition of JORN, DIO and similar melodic icons). Kroon and Laetitia create great hooks and their riffing is flawlessly interweaving into the classic, highly melodic arrangements. The Rhythm section is hard at work in the background laying the groundwork for this great audible narrative. If you never heard of SHUULAK you should change that as soon as humanly possible.
