Review Flash

Just last year I discovered the sensation that is THE HAWKINS, I reviewed them and I did like them at first but it should take me a few days, even weeks to realize what a true gem this band is. The happier I was when just shortly after falling in love with these guys music, this new opportunity to review their work fell in my lap. ‘Live in the Woods’ is as honest, stripped down of any studio tricks and raw as it gets. Johannes Carlsson is showcased in all his glory and perfect imperfection, sounding like a mix of Freddie Mercury (QUEEN), and Justin Hawkins (THE DARKNESS) with moments of even Matthew Bellamy (MUSE) while using his voice like a singer-songwriter that sometimes likes to rock out like he fronts the FOO FIGHTERS or THE HELLACOPTERS. Musically this is touching everything Rock music ever made special to me, great melodies and phenomenal songwriting paired with a fantastic vocalist and an overall epic sound that is heard in every involved instrument. Everything is on point and evenly balanced. If this live document does not convince you of this bands top notch quality, we can’t be friends.

Conclusion: For fans of FOO FIGHTERS, THE HELLACOPTERS, MUSE, QUEEN and THE DARKNESS.
