MIDNIGHT SPELL is a Heavy Metal band that hails from Miami, Florida. In 2017 five guys decided that a TV Show about two cops dressed pastel-coloured blousons can’t be the pop-cultural highlight to remember about Miami. All jokes aside: MIDNIGHT SPELL play old-school kick-ass Metal like in the golden 80s. Songs like ‘Between the Eyes’ or ‘Headbang ‘til Death’ are straight bangers that take no prisoners, nice and catchy mid-tempo rockers in the vein of bands like ENFORCER or JUDAS PRIEST but very, very American in the way they sound. Paolo Velazquez on microphone duty has a verve and energy to his vocals I get constantly reminded of W.A.S.P’s Blackie Lawless and other great singers of the early US Metal scene. When it comes to sounding retro as fuck these guys know exactly how to reproduce the old-school sound (the mastering of Bart Gabriel was a big help too in that matter I think). Listening to MIDNIGHT SPELL’s ‘Sky Destroyer’ I can rest assured that the next wave of Heavy Metal heroes is on their way to claim the throne.
