Review Flash

So my quest to check out as much different nationalities playing Thrash Metal gloriously continues! After UK based Thrash, Brazilian Thrash, Italian Thrash, German and American Thrash we arrived in Madrid, Spain. DEMONIK formed in 2007 (under the handle DEMON) and they released their first and only output with ‘Demon’, the successor ‘Ashes of the Earth’ was first released in 2013 and was re-released too in 2020. Style-wise DEMONIK remind me a lot of early SLAYER but with gang shouts and a cleaner sound. Musically these guys have much to offer for a guy like me which does not like it to rough and unmelodic, David Alarcia’s vocals are right between Hetfield and Araya (Slaytallica anyone???), Salinero and Gonzalez are a world-destroying riff machinery while Gonzalo (bass) and Rodriguez (drums) border between the absolute groove and a fast and precise technicality that is almost unbelievable. ‘Art-Violence’ is a Thrash Metal instrumental that starts the record like heart defibrillator on 150 percent power. My favourites are: ‘Revolution’ and ‘Confrontation’ two straight bangers with lots of righteous anger and shredding guitars. The rest is awesome too and my faves might even shift to another song but for now this is what I feel.

Conclusion: If you like old-school Thrash you should instantly check out DEMONIK because they fuckin' rule!
