Review Flash

If you like music to drink yourself into a coma to you might dig X.I.L. Austin James and his comrades in chaos (Jordan Hoffart on drums and Joseph Aguilar on guitar) aim to create the most mangy, rough and punk influenced MOTÖRHEAD-worshipping sound bastard ever to grace ones ears and they mean it. ‘Gone Again’ is so slow in between it could be a doom tune but in the next moment there’s a shredding high-speed solo accompanied by angry shouts. ‘Breakneck’ is a fast, straight banger that comes for the throat (Lemmy’s guys on booze and coke, that is the sound of this one). ‘Learn to Bleed’ is the same kind of song, structure-wise and when it comes to velocity, as ‘Breakneck’ is. All in all, this is quite heavy on the punkier side of heavy music which is not bad at all but not my favourite genre to be honest.

Conclusion: If you dig MOTÖRHEAD, VENOM or early SODOM you might fall in love with this three-piece from San Antonio.
