The band of tonight’s hour of Heavy Metal worship is: Remscheid’s MESSERSCHMITT! Formed in 2010 by guitar playing front-maniac Maik Jegszenties and the man with the punch: Kristian Tamm! The two of them soon after started to work on the new-born band’s own sound (the raw aggression and attitude of German Thrash fusion with the high melodic aspects of US Metal). 2011 and 2012 had their own respective demo outings and 2013 even saw a compilation of both demo’s material. Two years later, in 2015 the sight of the underground scene was set upon the debut of the German four-piece. The new outing ‘Consumed by Fire’ originally came out in digital form last year, the physical release will be out in a few days (LP limited to 100 black, 100 trans-blue & 100 trans-orange copies). One thing I can say for sure: the musical vision of Maik and Kristian is clearly audible, Maik’s vocals are the rough and aggressive counterpoint to the soaring guitar riffs. The guitar work is quite often very melody-driven and that makes for a fine mix of different musical approaches that unite to something that is more than the sum of its parts. If you dig bands like Colombia’s REVENGE, Belgium’s EVIL INVADERS than you should check these guys out
Conclusion: Fine and blunt-in-your-face Thrash Metal for every aspect of this scene’s exostosis.
