Review Flash

DOSGAMOS from Italy play a fierce mix of Death Metal infused Groove Metal that has harsh and clean parts that differ as much as night and day. When Michele Altavilla growls it means business, he sounds as brutal as it gets but there are moments when he decides to drop the growls in favour of clean vocals and that is when the style shifts from groovy bad-assery to expertly played Heavy stuff that has a strong 90s Nu-Metal vibe to it. The fact that after searching for quite a bit I still cannot find a second vocalist leaves me impressed. The transitions from clean to absolutely frigging filthy-as all-hell is a thing one has to actually experience (OK, this guy is nowhere near a monster like Will Ramos from LORNA SHORE but he is a piece of work for sure). I am a big fan of variation in vocal registers and this one really makes the band stand out even more than it would do because of their mad skills. Aside from the overall complexity and progressiveness of the arrangements this is just really well-made music that leaves enough place in the mix to spotlight every musician involved (even the bass man). If these guys continue on this level, I can see this getting a lot of attention in the scene.

Conclusion: If you dig complex, trippy stuff that goes HARD you should give this a spin.
