Saltatio Mortis - Ten Year Anniversary Concert
SALTATIO MORTIS have come a long way in ten years. I could say from Medieval Markets to the pinnacle of their game, but so grounded as individuals are they and such is their love of their work that despite mammoth success and acclaim they still play Medieval Markets, but they also put on a rock show, and not just any rock show, but one that makes you hold your breath and goose bumps rise on the back of your neck. And so I travelled to the historic Town Hall in Wuppertal for their ten year anniversary gig, a gig I would not have missed for the entire world.

Schneewittchen
SCHNEEWITTCHEN is one of the most interesting German alternative bands. Marianne Isar (vocals) and Thomas Duda (instrumentals), started to make music together in Hildesheim in 1996, using simply their names as a band name. In 2000, they choose the name SCHNEEWITTCHEN (snow white), a name of an old German fairy tale, for their band project. They mix successfully elements of very different styles, and as per their own disclosure, they are influenced both by the classical German songs written by Schubert and Schumann and by the French chanson, but also by Punk and other styles. When SCHNEEWITTCHEN was still simply “Mariannes Isar & Thomas Duda”, they used to play at cabarets, but after a few years they changed and started to perform at concert halls, music festivals and street fests, gaining in popularity every year. www.schneewittchenmusik.de

Goldfrapp
On this last day of the Oktoberfest in Munich, I came along on the way to the Muffathalle to have a look at GOLDFRAPP. It was not complete chaotic, but nevertheless, some fans indeed came in traditional dirndl or lederhosen to the concert…

Trentemøller, Chimes & Bells
We were closing up the week with a show by an artist we do much appreciate but have never seen live before and thus we were quite curious about how TRENTEMØLLER would be transporting his electronic cuts to the live circuit, especially those of the new album ‘Into The Great White Yonder’ leaning towards a rather indie direction that could indicate a rocking live presentation. We would see...
