ARSINE TIBE along living his own life released ‘Synthphony REMIXed! Vol. 8’ in 2008 followed by a single ‘Skyline - Deep and Dead’ this September. ‘Good Evening, The Mountain Said’ is thus his second album. Welcome to Lounge Noire he invites you into. It’s relaxing, the sofas are soft here and the lighting is kind to your eyes. ‘In My Room At Night’, an instrumental was one of those I enjoyed the most, pleasant and even slightly atmospheric with a nice hook. ‘Death Of A Cube’ was a great funky piece with a cool rhythm due to the good interaction of bass and drums, a good beat stands out to mark it as more exceptional as well, on top of it, keys add a great vibe. The voice sample suggesting murder of some kind was a nice touch too.
The single’s song ‘Skyline - Deep And Dead’ is another wonderful piece, emotive and subtly intense. The addition of children’s voices even lends a cinematic feel. The central melody is nice and the added atmosphere and the vocals are here at their best too, altogether creating a song that stands out. The ideas in the album seem to be loosely connected. There are also some guest appearances (Alex Brown, Tania Murray etc.) to remark on. This was an enjoyable album, though I am not enamoured enough to keep coming back to it, so it’s a limited listen really where it concerns my own tastes. The fans of the genre though might be able to enjoy it more as it is a good album after all.
