Album Review
Hungarian electro-industrial project ESCALATOR was founded in 1988 and already by that fact could deserve a veteran status however because of 17-year hiatus in producing studio albums, the band maybe, is not so well-known now as it should be, or who knows? Anyway the formation is definitely back with the new creation entitled ‘Out of My Ego’. The album seems to be quite interesting first of all thanks to its ambiguity as it's hard to assess the whole thing after one listening. The music possesses power and originality although it still seems to be painfully familiar. The tracks are mostly built on rhythm twined with a hurricane of electronic effects. The singing is actually a tale with different intonations.
With every new song the new details are added to the general picture and the music is getting more peculiar. The title track is rather significant in this respect and manages to create a viable atmosphere. ‘Deeply Buried Psychosis’ is another impressive piece and may be safely called the best song off the album. The other compositions don’t sound so great maybe because of the abundance of piercing sounds grating upon the ears yet this impression is purely individual. In whole the album is meant for dance floors and of course will interest fans of the style.
