Album Review

The blistering live performances of Swedish Garage Rock outfit THE HIVES are legendary and their ability to command even the largest of crowds is surprising every time anew. Now, the guys around front demon Howlin Pelle Almqvist are back with a new album called 'Lex Hives', which starts right away with full-speed introduction named 'Hello': IT is immediately followed by 'Go Right Ahead', a melodic piece of gritty sing-along rock music that makes your hips shake in no time. The third track '1000 Answers' instantly puts the pedal to the metal and you can almost see the band raging across a stage playing that song. 'I Wait More' has a slightly bluesy flavour to offer, build around an explosive chorus. 'Take Back The Toys'' could be a leftover of earlier recording sessions due to its raw appeal. A recording straight from the garage, it seems.

One of the very few moments of serenity on the album is 'Without The Money'. At times it has you thinking of some of NICK CAVE' s material, including the preacher's attitude. The rest of the songs included on the record is committed to upbeat and party madness the band is so famous for. With that irresistible groove of course. Conclusion for this album this time isn't a hard thing to do. This one's a perfect fit for any rock party. For everything quiet go and look elsewhere, you won't be happy with this one.
