A mysterious new Electro project, initiated by a mysterious artist who is said to have gained some success already under different monikers! So far for the information you get when trying to look up something about HERZSCHLAG, the project that has released its debut album ‘Fest der Liebe’ not so long ago.
’Asystolie’ opens up everything and is quite a moody start for the record, employing creepy soundscapes and fragments of radio transmission. Reminds you pretty vividly of some of those zombie movies! The title track, which follows up next, is to be labelled as straight, harsh electronic stuff. Hard beats, distorted vocals you know the means. The third track ‘Zuviel von mir’ swims in the same wake. The synths used sound pretty much the same as in the last rack. Unfortunately, that’s a problem you’ll experience over the entire duration of the album. It does sound too similar and it’s definitely not enough to slow down with the tempo a little as witnessed on ‘Freiheit’ or ‘Steh Auf!’ The string sections here might be different regarding their pitch but the basic sounds that were used are the same to me. A plus point, at least for Germans, is the native lyrics which make for a better understanding of the message.
’Fest der Liebe’ certainly won’t become one of my personal highlights this year. For that it just lacks the necessary diversity. But I’m absolutely sure that it will become a major hit in all the dark dance temples.
