The biggest European Gothic festival confirms more than 20 new names: headed by ASP VS. THE LITTLE BIG MEN, DANZIG, and THE SISTERS OF MERCY, on August 8 and 9, 2020, more than 40 bands enter the two stages and give proof of how versatile the Gothic scene is. Therewith, except of the frame programme and the winners of the band contest, the line-up of the always sold-out festival in Hildesheim-Drispenstedt is completed.ASP VS. THE LITTLE BIG MEN - after the Gothic Novel Rockers announced this secret band as support for their anniversary tour, thousands of fans asked themselves the same question: What is this project all about? Meanwhile, it’s no longer a secret that it’s an impish group around singer Alexander “Asp” Spreng that performs songs from the early and electronically dominated time of the band. The cult formation that is closely connected with the M’era Luna wants to offer a very special concert experience: the extra designed show is only performed at the M’era Luna 2020.
DANZIG managed to be a successful band since the end of the 80s, and their music is a reference point for several genres. It’s because of mastermind Glenn Danzig and his insatiable hunger for change and absolute determination to form his own, aesthetic claims into a distinctive sound that leaves nothing to chance. The unique DANZIG baritone and his work as songwriter and producer make him an icon of Metal and Hard Rock, and other artists are measured by him.
The SISTERS OF MERCY are musical pioneers and visionaries; further number one voice of Gothic Rock, although their work reaches far beyond the Gothic scene. They describe themselves as Rock band and “Industrial Groove Machine”, what exactly describes what their fans love so much: pushing rhythms, deep basses, and effectively constructed melodies, that are dark, but never powerless. Since 40 years, the Brits are rightly successful all around the world.
Another confirmation is BLUTENGEL, a Dark Pop band that is an important part of dark music. The same in return for the Gothic Rock genre can be said about the British cult band THE MISSION that reinvented their style several times since formation. VNV NATION do the same, they permanently look for new sounds: the VNV NATION CLASSICAL project combines the voice of Ronan Harris with a symphonic orchestra, so there will be intensive, acoustic live moments. COVENANT from Sweden have the pockets full of electronic sounds to make their fans sweat, and the US-American live veterans of THE CRÜXSHADOWS add guitars and strings to their electronic sounds. Canadian guests from Vancouver will be FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY - they enrich the festival with their experimental EBM, and this is what the Techno icons of HAUJOBB will do, too.
A further guarantee for thrilling live shows comes with TYSKE LUDDER, SOMAN, QNTAL, SCHATTENMANN, CHROM, and AMBASSADOR21. In addition, AEVERIUM, HELL BOULEVARD, RAVE THE REQVIEM, OUL, and ADAM IS A GIRL confirmed their participation to make the 21st edition of the cult festival unforgettable.
