loreenamckennit thevisit thedefinitiveedition30th anniversary edition that marked the turning point in LOREENA MCKENNITT’s career - a deluxe limited edition with 4 CDs, audio Blu-Ray and an illustrated book.

The Juno Award winning album, which gave LOREENA MCKENNITT access to the international stage 30 years ago, will be re-released on September 24, 2021 as ‘The Visit: The Definitive Edition’. Pre-order here: https://www.loreenarevisited.com. The original album was recorded in 1991 and sold over 2 million copies in more than 40 countries and marked the turning point in the Canadian singer / songwriter’s career.

‘The Visit: The Definitive Edition’ is available in two formats: a deluxe limited-edition hardcover containing four CDs and an audio Blu-ray, a 32-page illustrated booklet with unpublished content, such as their first surround mix music. A highlight are the 15 tracks that can be obtained exclusively via download and streaming, the original album and six classics from the album ‘The Visit’, recorded for radio and during live performances. The booklet is a treasure trove of memories: four essays written by LOREENA MCKENNITT, personal recollections of her unconventional rise from Dave Tollington, formerly Warner Music Canada, and previously unpublished photos. This is a ‘Revisit of The Visit’ - a kaleidoscope of the time and locations.

“30 years is a long time, no matter how you measure it,” recalls MCKENNITT. “If you look at it through a picture frame now, you can better see the period in which all of this took place. I've heard from so many people that this record was the soundtrack of a lifetime when it was released in the early 90s. In addition, we managed to involve the contributors in one way or another, who were very supportive at the time and also contributed to the album with their creativity, such as Jeri Heiden with the graphics, Tollington for his words and our original engineer Jeff Wolpert”.

Dave Tollington writes: “My time with Loreena was a wonderful journey through the world of art, geography, but also business at the height of its success and none of us thought this at the beginning or had expectations in this way. So much nourishing water that has flowed under the bridge - both personally and professionally.”

In addition to the original remastered recordings, the package includes two archived radio broadcasts from Toronto’s Ontario Place and for NPR’s World Cafe. There is also a spoken word disc with an interview from 1991 and a round table discussion from 2020 with colleagues from the time. The fourth CD contains the soundboard recordings of six Trio Performances, a binaural headphone mix of the original recordings. This binaural mix gives the listener a surround experience if they use headphones accordingly.

The Blu-ray provides the original recording in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound in a high-resolution stereo version. Dolby has developed this new format, Atmos delivers the sound that is similar to that in modern cinemas due to the three-dimensional sound quality. The 5.1 mix is in the older, five-speaker subwoofer surround format that most people are familiar with. The high-res stereo mix is uncompressed and allows the listener to enjoy the original stereo mix that is very close to the original studio master.

The Deluxe Limited Edition contains highlights from MCKENNITT’s concert appearances such as ‘Bonny Portmore’, ‘The Lady of Shalot’, ‘The Old Ways’, ‘Greensleeves’ and ‘Tango To Evora’ - great songs that have also been covered by other artists.

In autumn 2019 LOREENA MCKENNITT decided to take some time off and take care of issues that are very close to her heart, such as climate protection, stronger rights for artists in relation to their compositions, and she is a great advocate, that fans should buy their music directly from the artist.
