Heidensturm Festival: Riger, Minas Morgul, Asenblut, Ivenberg, Tarabas and Vrankenvorde

This December, a storm raises… the Heidensturm Festival! This new festival features big bands such as RIGER and MINAS MORGUL. But also ASENBLUT, IVENBERG, TARABAS and VRANKENVORDE will get the audience in the mood for banging! So, be sure to be there to experience a great night with some wonderful bands!

RIGER is a Viking- / Pagan Metal band from Frankfurt (Oder), Germany. Their music is characterized as “German Heathen Metal”. The band was founded in 1996 and since then, they released 5 CDs and 1 Demo. In 2009, their new album ‘Streyf’ came on the market. And I'm sure the band will show us some songs from that.

MINAS MORGUL is a German Black Metal band that formed in 1997. The name MINAS MORGUL refers to a place in J.R.R. Tolkien's “Lord of the Rings” and describes a city in the kingdom of Gondor. Recently, they released ‘Eisengott’ and so be excited about the new stuff that will be presented that night!

ASENBLUT - German Blackened Thrash Metal - first came up with the thought of founding a band in the year 2006 when Jan (bass), Schlecki (drums) and Tetzel (guitar and vocals) got together to play their first sessions. But unfortunately this constellation didn't last and soon, the band broke up. In October / November 2007, Tetzel and Claus were looking for a new drummer. Soon, they began playing their first songs and the new band was founded. Their music can be seen as a mix of almost every style of metal, with influences of thrash, death and also black metal. Just recently their first CD "Aufbruch" was released. After mostly great reviews, you can be sure they will blow you away with their new songs!

IVENBERG was founded in 2001 but the roots of the band dates back into the year of 1622. During this time, a part of their hometown was called “Ivvenberg” or “Iwenberg” and gave the band their name. After quitting in 2006, they got back together in 2008 and recorded ‘Leben heißt sterben’. Their style can be described as a mix of Viking / Black / Death Metal with significant modern influences. Neck breaking mid-tempo riffing, fast paced drumming, and next to heroic melodic portions makes their sound, fulfilled by vocals starting from psychedelic whispering, to demonic growls and apocalyptic screams.

TARABAS originally has been founded in 2004, although the idea for this kind of project was already developed earlier by Alexander “Kutte” May (guitar & screaming vocals) and Steve Kuhnert (Bass). Karl-Ludwig “Ludo” Stephan (guitar & growls) and Cassian Heim (drums & backing-vocals) joined the band subsequently. Steve left the band but shortly after that they found a bassist in Marcel “Azalon” Kramer. In this new formation, Tarabas entered the studio again in 2009 to feed the hungry crowd with a 75- minute long player that certainly can be considered as the most intense project in their band history. Armed with ‘Das Neue Land’, the band headed straight to a their well known designation - to blow rooms away and to set the audience on fire.

Since 1994, VRANKENVORDE, originally from Frankfurt / Oder, have been rocking the heavy metal scene with their home-made music. What was just a hobby at the beginning was soon to become more serious. The band line-up changed a few times - Nicola (RIGER) and Roberto (ex RIGER) were part of the band for some years. In 2004 the band parted from the front man with whom the first album ‘Einst’ had been recorded and Robse - the new grunting-bawling front man - joined the band. One year later, Tibor (AHNENGRAB) joined VRANKENVORDE and in 2007 the second album ‘Schlachtensang’ was recorded. In June 2008, Nazgul (ERESTOR) completed the band and this new crazy built “family” of 6 tough guys rock the world with much love, enthusiasm and boozing.
