Russian Synth Community traditionally invites all fans of dark scene to the musical festival “Synthetic Snow” in the very beginning of winter. For the 7th time already the elite of Russian and foreign underground will gather on one scene and present the best of their creations during few hours. When “Synthetic Snow” started in 2003 as a small dark-project, nobody could surmise that the festival will gain high reputation of an event combining the most talented and unique musicians of world dark scene. “Synthetic Snow” opened to the Russian audience a lot of new outstanding names who further won the general recognition.
On the 5th of December the Russian audience will see for the first time the cult Italian band KIRLIAN CAMERA. The formation was founded in 1980 by Angelo Bergamini who became the pioneer of the Italian synth pop scene. The unique sound of the band which combined electronic drive and melody with very beautiful female vocals got a lot of fans all over the world. KIRILIAN CAMERA released the retrospective compilation ‘Odyssey Europa’ on Out of Line label in October 2009. The compilation also includes previously unreleased compositions. The band will visit Russia during its tour. KIRLIAN CAMERA live shows are always brilliant and stunning. The charm of two beautiful ladies - vocalist and violinist - and the energy of the synths players make KIRLIAN CAMERA shows definitely worth seeing.
Swedish duo DUPONT will also visit Russia for the first time. After 4 years of silence the band released a new album, entitled ‘Entering the Ice Age’ in August 2009, which was highly welcomed by alternative European charts. Inspired by the success, the band made the single EP and video for the song ‘New Dawn’. On the album ‘Entering the Ice Age’, DUPONT have slightly changed the sound from classical EBM to softer future-pop. Nevertheless the band will definitely play the old songs in Tochka. Fans of Covenant, And One, T.O.Y., Front 242 will definitely like DUPONT as well. Another foreign participant of the festival, German band DIORAMA, has already won the hearts of Russian fans long ago and does not require a detailed presentation. At the moment DIORAMA is busy recording a new album but the musicians will make a short break to take part in the festival.
The geography of Russian participants of the festival is portrayed by three cities: Saint-Petersburg, Samara and Nizhniy Novgorod. ROMAN RAIN, a maestro of decadence from Saint-Petersburg has the most romantic image on the Russian underground scene during the last decade. In the era of destruction of the stereotypes concerning wealthy life there comes the time of sincerity in music and poetry. And it will not be left unnoticed by the audience. It will show the seeds of beauty in the souls longing to see a new life through the mud and ashes of the rusty past. The project from Samara PURPLE FOG SIDE can be regarded as the pioneer of Russian dark wave. Whatever the experiments can be, the band’s music brings the same mood: loneliness, desperation, attempts to escape from the vicious circle of social dogmas. Musical style of the formation combines mostly experimental electronic sounds with shimmering melodies.
The commitment to open the VII Moscow Synthetic Snow Festival is laid onto MECHANICAL APFELSINE from Nizhniy Novgorod. In their work the musician refer to classic synth pop of middle 90s. This year the band released album “Space without End” on the Russian label Shadowplay. All fans of the style will like the album and the show. So a lot of different interesting music is waiting for you!
