First a balanced, laidback soundscape accompanied by a distinctive and strong voice full of expression presenting you with the melody. And then an emotional outburst where the harder and harsher dominate. Soon to return to the somber and tranquil… Memento Materia is very proud and happy to present Sadman, a Swedish duo making their debut with the album ”Cold in The State of Me” on April 18, 2008. Sadman is Lars Fernström (song, music) and Mattias Räftegård (music), two very experienced musicians focusing entirely on Sadman.

Cold in the State of Me

The debut album holds 13 tracks, each of them with their unique and special character. An album where Lars and Mattias’s experience shows through – the music is varied, emotional, beautiful and well produced. Inspiration comes from bands like Depeche Mode, Radiohead and Recoil – being made into something very characteristic and individual.

”Cold in the State of Me” presents you with wonderful ballads in ”I Spare You” and ”No Need to Pretend”, great mid tempo songs like the title track ”Cold in the State of Me” and  ”I Hold On” and they up the tempo in ”Help” and Depeche Mode-ish ”The Contract”.

This is in many ways a complete album where Sadman proves that they know how to put together a vivid, inspiring and varied mix of electro, pop and rock. You can already now listen to music from Sadman on the digital EP “Cold EP” presenting you with a number of exclusive remixes of album tracks together with a total of three exclusive tracks (”What is Left”, ”The Shadow Behind the Man” and ”Shine on”).

”Cold in the State of Me” is a more than impressive debut. An album standing strong and becoming even better and better with time. The variation and skills presented by Sadman lets you discover new and exciting aspects of their music all the time – new thoughts and feelings that makes the experience so much better…
